Rochdale 122-1 - Bamford-Fieldhouse 99 all out
On a sunny evening, Rochdale won the toss and decided to bat. The opening pair of Duffy and Aughey got off to a good start against some wayward bowling until Aughey went for 7, bowled by Alex Willis. Duffy and Kay carried on the good work, scoring a mixture of quick singles and well-timed boundaries, and kept the scoreboard ticking over. Bamford were left to rue dropping Duffy twice as he went on to retire at 31 with Rochdale 54-1. Kay then took over the reins and was well supported by Junaid (27 not out) until he retired on 35 with the score on 120-1. Willis was the best bowler for Bamford, finishing with 3-0-10-1.
The Bamford innings began with a new opening pair of Matt Buckley and Willis and they were met by some good bowling from Kay in particular who swung the ball and moved it off the pitch. It was Patterson though who struck first though, bowling Buckley and he struck again in his next over forcing a poor shot from Ahmed Nawaz which was caught by Bamford’s Oliver Bonynge who acting as a sub fielder ! After a watchful start, Joe Smith-Butler scored quickly to retire on 30 0f 26 balls but after that the wickets fell at regular intervals with Duffy picking up 4 for 25. For the second time in a week, Callum Belfield was not out, this time retiring on 32 as the innings closed in failing light with Rochdale the worthy winners.
Everyone at Bamford-Fieldhouse Under 15s would like to thank Rochdale for arranging this match.
